HOW TO USE THE STAIRCASE CONCRETE & FORMWORK CALCULATOR

The STAIRCASE CONCRETE & FORMWORK CALCULATOR is designed to help you QUICKLY AND ACCURATELY determine the TOTAL CONCRETE VOLUME, FORMWORK REQUIREMENTS, AND REINFORCEMENT QUANTITY for a staircase construction project.

To ENSURE ACCURATE RESULTS, carefully follow these STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS and enter the required values correctly.

STEP 1: ENTER LANDING DETAILS

The LANDING is the FLAT HORIZONTAL PLATFORM of the staircase. Enter the following details:

  • LANDING LENGTH (M): Enter the FULL LENGTH of the landing in METERS.
  • LANDING WIDTH (M): Input the WIDTH of the landing in METERS.
  • LANDING THICKNESS (M): Specify the THICKNESS of the landing in METERS.
  • TOTAL NUMBER OF FLOORS: Enter the NUMBER OF FLOORS the staircase spans across.

STEP 2: ENTER WAIST DETAILS

The WAIST is the INCLINED SLAB that supports the staircase. Fill in the following:

  • WAIST LENGTH (M): Enter the TOTAL LENGTH of the inclined slab in METERS.
  • WAIST WIDTH (M): Input the WIDTH of the waist slab in METERS.
  • WAIST THICKNESS (M): Enter the THICKNESS of the waist slab in METERS.

STEP 3: ENTER THREAD DETAILS

The THREADS are the HORIZONTAL STEPS where users place their feet. Provide these details:

  • THREAD NUMBER: Enter the TOTAL NUMBER of steps in the staircase.
  • THREAD LENGTH (M): Input the LENGTH of a SINGLE THREAD in METERS.
  • THREAD TOTAL LENGTH (M): Enter the TOTAL LENGTH of all threads combined in METERS.

STEP 4: ENTER RISER DETAILS

The RISERS are the VERTICAL PARTS of each step. Fill in the following:

  • RISER NUMBER: Enter the TOTAL NUMBER OF RISERS in the staircase.
  • RISER LENGTH (M): Input the LENGTH of a SINGLE RISER in METERS.
  • RISER TOTAL LENGTH (M): Enter the TOTAL LENGTH of all risers combined in METERS.

STEP 5: ENTER REINFORCEMENT DETAILS

  • REINFORCEMENT CENTER TO CENTER SPACING (M):

    • Specify the DISTANCE between the reinforcement bars in METERS.
  • REINFORCEMENT DIAMETER (MM):

    • Select the DIAMETER of the reinforcement bars in MILLIMETERS.

STEP 6: CLICK “CALCULATE CONCRETE & FORMWORK”

Once all inputs have been entered CORRECTLY, click the “CALCULATE CONCRETE & FORMWORK” button.

The CALCULATOR WILL AUTOMATICALLY COMPUTE the required values and display DETAILED RESULTS.

STEP 7: VIEW CALCULATED RESULTS

The results will be displayed in a CLEARLY FORMATTED SECTION. The output includes:

CONCRETE QUANTITIES

  • TOTAL CONCRETE VOLUME (M³): The TOTAL AMOUNT of concrete required for the LANDING, WAIST, THREADS, AND RISERS combined.
  • CONCRETE IN LANDING (M³): The VOLUME OF CONCRETE needed for the landing.
  • CONCRETE IN WAIST (M³): The VOLUME OF CONCRETE required for the waist slab.
  • CONCRETE IN THREAD (M³): The VOLUME OF CONCRETE needed for the stair threads.
  • CONCRETE IN RISER (M³): The VOLUME OF CONCRETE required for the stair risers.

FORMWORK QUANTITIES

  • FORWORK TO SOFFIT OF LANDING (M²): The TOTAL FORMING AREA required for the BOTTOM SURFACE of the landing.
  • FORMWORK TO EDGES OF LANDING (M): The PERIMETER of the landing that needs formwork.
  • FORMWORK TO SOFFIT OF WAIST (M²): The TOTAL FORMING AREA required for the BOTTOM SURFACE of the waist slab.
  • FORMWORK TO EDGES OF WAIST (M): The TOTAL PERIMETER of the waist slab that requires formwork.
  • FORMWORK TO RISER (M): The TOTAL FORMING AREA required for the risers.

REINFORCEMENT QUANTITY

  • TOTAL REINFORCEMENT WEIGHT (KG): The TOTAL WEIGHT of reinforcement steel required, based on the selected diameter and spacing.

BENEFITS OF USING THIS CALCULATOR
